Questions about Nextcloud

We do not run Nextcloud yet. Can you set it up?

Yes. We set it up on a US server or on your own hardware, move your files in, and look after it from then on.

Is Nextcloud secure?

Nextcloud publishes security fixes on a regular schedule and rates public servers with its free scan. Staying on a supported version and applying those fixes is the core of our care plan.

Can we keep using Word and Excel?

Yes. Files sync to your computers, so people keep opening them in Word and Excel. Editing in the browser is available through Collabora Online or ONLYOFFICE.

Our server was set up by someone who has left. Can you take it over?

Yes. We start with the check, document what is there, and bring it to a supported version without losing data.

What does it cost?

The check is free. Care is a fixed monthly price, and moves and custom apps are quoted after the check.

Where is our data stored?

On a server you choose: a US data center we manage, or your own hardware. Your files stay there.

How long does a move take?

It depends on how much data you hold and how many people use it. The review ends with a fixed date, before anything starts.

Do you work outside Washington, DC?

Yes. We work with organizations across the US, remotely.
